15/October/2016 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift Incident # 16-06803 – A motorist reported a structure
fire at 2381 Drain Road Saturday evening 15-October. 9-1-1 received a report
from a passerby at 23:49 in the rural community of Johnsville, north of
Smoaks. Fire-Rescue units arrived to find the single story block structure
fully involved. The fire had been burning for some time before it was found.
The roof had already collapsed and most of the floor had already burned
away. Firefighters deployed multiple handlines to combat the fire. A second
alarm was issued shortly after arrival for additional Tenders and personnel.
Water supply was conducted with a Tender shuttle. Neighbors reported no one
was at home when the fire occurred. Firefighters found the block building
had been constructed around a single wide mobile at some time. Crews
contended with multiple walls and roof structures while extinguishing the
fire. Units were on the scene for six hours. The cause of the fire is under
investigation. No injuries were reported.
Engine 7, Engine 18, Tender 7, Tender 17, Tender 18, Tender 23, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 18, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 111 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander. |
