26/October/2016 – Four Car MVC with Fire – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-07043 – Four people received injuries in a four vehicle collision at the intersection of Augusta Hwy. (SC Hwy 61) and Jefferies Hwy. (US Hwy 15) Wednesday afternoon 26-October at 17:04. Engine 5 arrived to find one vehicle in the intersection and three vehicles north on Jefferies Hwy. A pickup truck and Transit van were well involved. All occupants were out of the vehicles. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed one 1-3/4 handline to extinguish the fire, while other crewmembers treated the injured. Fortunately no one suffered substantial injuries. All four were treated at the scene and ambulance transportation was not necessary. The highway was blocked for about 20 minutes until two lanes could be cleared. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Colleton County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted with traffic control.

Engine 5, Engine 36, Medic 9, Battalion 1, Squad 27, Car 12, Car 105, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Joseph Holmes served as Incident Commander.
