10/November/2016 – Fatal Motorcycle MVC – “B” Shift

Incident # 16-07410 – An adult male died from injuries received when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) at the intersection of Jacksonboro Road in the Town of Cottageville, Thursday afternoon 10-November at 16:22. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the highway. Firefighter-Paramedics from Station 9 arrived two minutes later to find the man unconscious in the highway. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet. Crews quickly treated him at the scene to secure his airway, then transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical in Summerville. He did not survive his injuries. Traffic on the busy highway was blocked for nearly 45 minutes. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. Police units from the Town of Cottageville and the Sheriff’s Office assisted.  

Engine 9, Medic 9, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 111 responded. Capt. Michael Banks served as Incident Commander.
