18/November/2016 – Fatal Auto Pedestrian MVC – “A” Shift

Incident # 16-07608 – A 60 year old Walterboro man was fatally injured Friday evening at the intersection of Bells Hwy. and Mount Carmel Road. The incident occurred at 18:43, when the man was crossing Bells Highway. Witnesses advised the man walked into the traffic and was narrowly missed by one west bound car, when he was struck by a west bound Chevrolet Tahoe. Medic 26, who was responding to another incident, drove up on the accident about one minute later. Firefighter-Paramedics found the victim unconscious in the roadway with multiple traumatic injuries. They quickly treated him at the scene including respiratory support, then rapidly transported to Colleton Medical Center. He did not survive his injuries. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the incident.
