30/November/2016 – High Speed MVC – “C” Shift Incident # 16-07884 – A 51 year old North Carolina man
suffered serious injuries after his Sprinter Van struck a tree Wednesday
morning 30-November at 00:56. The vehicle was traveling southbound on I-95
near the 43 mile marker when the driver reportedly swerved to avoid a deer.
The van lost control, entered the median and struck an oak tree. The van
received heavy damage, while the driver suffered multiple traumatic
injuries. Firefighter-Paramedics forced open the driver’s door to extricated
the driver. He was quickly treated at the scene, then transported emergent
to Colleton Medical Center. He was stabilized in the ED and later
transferred to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical. The SC Highway Patrol
is investigating the crash.
Engine 1, Medic 13, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 12
responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander. |
