14/February/2017 – MVC with entrapment – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-00993 – Two people were injured in a three car MVC at the intersection of Bells Hwy (SC Hwy 64) and Robertson Blvd Tuesday morning 14-February at 07:10. A 19 yr. old female was transported by Medic 19 with minor injuries to Colleton Medical Center. An adult female was trapped in a separate small SUV which collided with the other two vehicles. Her car was pushed against a construction trailer that was stopped at the traffic signal. No one was injured in the construction truck. Colleton Firefighter-Paramedics treated the woman in the car during the extrication. Other crew members used Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the passenger side doors and “B” post. The windshield was also removed. The patient was extricated with full spinal precautions, then transported by Medic 26 to CMC. City Police and Firefighters detoured traffic for over an hour until the accident was cleared. Walterboro Police Dept is investigating the crash.

Medic 19, Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 27, Car 109 and Car 118 responded. Walterboro Fire Dept responded with two Engines. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
