16/February/2017 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-01054 – Firefighters quickly contained a fire in a structure at 224 Friendship Street Thursday afternoon 16-February. At 17:10, Fire-Rescue was sent to the location on a report of smoke and flames coming from the residence. Engine 19 arrived to find the front of the doublewide mobile home well involved. Fire had already entered the attic space above the front door. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, entered the building through the front door and contained the fire to two front rooms. A portion of the roof over the front door was burned away. During a search of the home, Capt Nahrstedt located a dog in a cage and rescued the animal from the smoke filled building. The dog did not appear to have suffered any ill effects from the fire. The remainder of the home was saved, but received smoke damage. Most personal items were saved. Fire units were on the scene for two hours. The cause of the fire was unintentional and started on the front porch. The Red Cross is assisting the family.  

Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 5, Tender 19, Tender 27, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 109, Car 110, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Battalion Chief Joey Campbell served as Incident Commander.
