03/April/2017 – Industrial Structural Fire – “B” Shift Incident # 17-02249 – Quick action by employees at the
Dayco Plant 938 Thunderbolt Drive, lessened the damage caused by a fire in
the ceiling of an equipment room. At 18:00, on Monday 03-April during a
thunderstorm, a lightning strike caused a fire in electrical wiring that
spread to the wooden roof joists and insulation above an equipment room on
the north side of the industrial complex. The employees used portal fire
extinguishers to douse the flames and stop the spread of the fire.
Firefighters removed ceiling tiles and smoldering insulation. Fire damage
was minimal and contained to the area of origin. Crews were at the location
for an hour.
Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 19, Engine 26, Ladder 19,
Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 109 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott
Feather served as Incident Commander. |
