04/July/2017 – High Speed MVC with Ejection – “A” Shift Incident # 17-04568 – A 23 year old man was critically injured in a high
speed single car MVC on Coolers Dairy Road just east of Round O Road,
Tuesday evening 04-July. 9-1-1 received several reports of the incident at
20:23 advising the vehicle had hit a tree and the driver was ejected. The
callers noted the vehicle was on fire. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to
find the car with massive damage off of the roadway fully involved. The
engine was lying next to the burning car. The unrestrained patient was found
with multiple life threatening injuries several feet from the car. Crews
quickly treated the man and immobilized him with full spinal precautions. He
was transported emergent by Medic 9 with additional Firefighter-Paramedics
on board to assist with patient care. Medic 9 transported to the Trauma
Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Personnel at the
scene, deployed one 1-3/4 handline to extinguish the car and grass fire. The
SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Engine 19, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112
responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander. |
