23/July/2017 – Traumatic Injury with Air Evac – “B” Shift
Incident # 17-05088 – At 15:00 Sunday afternoon 23-July, Medic 18 was
dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Beavers Pass Road south of
Smoaks. A 63 year old male accidently chopped his foot with an axe while
working in the yard causing severe damage and heavy bleeding.
Firefighter-Paramedics placed C.A.R.E. Flight on standby while enroute to
the location. Once on scene, the crew controlled the bleeding and bandaged
the wound. They requested a scene landing and directed the helicopter to
land at the Elementary School at Bells Crossroads. Battalion 1 and Car 112
responded to Bells Crossroads and established a landing zone in the front
yard of the school. Medic 18 transported the patient to the school and
transferred the patient to the Flight Crew without incident. The patient was
flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. Medic 18, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion
Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander. |
