09/August/2017 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-05516 – Two people were shot in a reported drive-by shooting in the 800 block of Gadsden Loop Wednesday evening 09-August. At 23:33 9-1-1 received reports of shots fired into a residence and people were injured. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived within minutes, advising a male victim had left the scene in a privately owned car and was enroute to the hospital. An adult female was still on the scene with a serious injury to her hand. Firefighter-Paramedics treated her at the scene and controlled her bleeding. She was rapidly transported by Medic 1 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The male victim received life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. No helicopters could fly due to heavy rains and lightning. Fire-Rescue Medic 102 and the crew from C.A.R.E. Flight conducted an emergent transfer of the patient from Colleton Medical Center to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Engine 1, Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
