20/August/2017 – Burn Injury – “C” Shif Incident # 17-05781 – A 20 year old male received first
and second degree burns over parts of his upper body and arms after a gas
can exploded in the 200 block of Fennel Lane Sunday morning 20-August at
10:14. Law Enforcement Officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Town of
Cottageville had responded to the location for another matter and found the
suspect under a tree huffing gas fumes and smoking a cigarette. A short time
later the gasoline ignited, engulfing the man. Sheriff’s Office Sergeant
Jackie Lawson rolled the man on the ground to extinguish the flames,
reducing his injuries. Lawson called for Paramedics to respond to the scene.
Medic 9 arrived minutes later and treated the man for his injuries. He was
transported to Colleton Medical Center and later transferred by private
ambulance to the Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta Georgia. Medic 9 and Car 112 responded. Chief McRoy served as
Incident Commander. |
