23/September/2017 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-06649 – Three people were injured in a shooting incident in the 100 block of Crosby Street Saturday evening 23-September. At 21:02, Law Enforcement and Fire-Rescue units were dispatched to a report of a person shot in the leg. While responding, another caller to 9-1-1 reported the injured person had left the scene and was on the way to Colleton Medical Center in a private car. A deputy located the car on Robertson Blvd and followed them to CMC. As units arrived at the intersection of Crosby and Francis Street a second victim was brought to the ambulance. The man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot injury to the left thigh. Firefighter-Paramedics bandaged his injury and transported him to CMC in Medic 19. As Medic 19 departed, a third patient was located between two mobile homes near the end of Crosby Street. The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his legs and a suspected fracture from one bullet. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating him and called for a second ambulance to respond. The patient received significant injuries and his condition deteriorated. A medical helicopter was placed on standby. Fire-Rescue Medic 1 arrived and quickly loaded the patient. He was transported emergent to the helipad at CMC with additional personnel on board to assist with patient care. At the helipad, the patient was transferred to the C.A.R.E. Flight crew and was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Walterboro Police Dept. is investigating the incident. The Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
