29/September/2017 – SCFA Firefighter Graduation

Firefighter II Branden Dias graduated from the South Carolina Fire Academy’s Recruit School Friday afternoon 29-September. Dias is the younger brother of Firefighter-Paramedic Kristin Dias currently assigned to Station 1 & 13 and serves as a volunteer with Fire-Rescue. He was one of twenty-one participants who completed the eight week training course in Columbia. The course exceeds the NFPA Firefighter II curriculum and participants are certified as Medical First Responders, Basic Firefighter, FLAG, HazMat Ops, IFSAC Firefighter I and II and Auto Extrication. The Denny Auditorium was packed with family members and dignitaries. Dias’ siblings attended and he was pinned by his twin sisters. He hopes to pursue a career in the fire service.

Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Scott Feather was the Keynote Speaker for the graduation and offered an inspiring speech. Chief McRoy also attended.
