08/October/2017 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift Incident # 17-06980 – A Springtown home was destroyed
in an early morning fire Sunday 08-October. Fire-Rescue was notified of the
incident at 567 Bent Gate Lane at 04:19 after a neighbor noticed the flames.
Engine 26 arrived to find the single story structure fully involved. The
roof, all of the walls, except a portion of a west wall and some flooring
had already collapsed. The fire had been burning undetected for some time
before it was reported. Firefighters deployed three 1-3/4 handlines and used
a deck gun to knock down the flames. Water supply was conducted using a
Tender Shuttle. The long narrow single lane dirt road hampered the shuttle
operation and Tenders had to be staged on Sunrise Road, then brought
individually to the scene. Crews had the bulk of the fire knocked down
within 20 minutes, however overhaul of the structure took two and half
hours. The building was originally a singlewide mobile home that had
multiple additions to the front and rear. The cause of the fire is under
investigation.
Engine 26, Engine 27, Tender 5, Tender 7, Tender 17,
Tender 19, Tender 23, Tender 26, Tender 27, Squad 23, Medic 18, Medic 26,
Battalion 1, Car 27 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton
served as Incident Commander. |
