09/November/2017 – C.A.R.E. Flight Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new C.A.R.E. (Colleton Air Rescue Evac) Flight Program based at Colleton Medical Center, mid-day Thursday 09-November. Despite a raining day, a large crowd attended and enjoyed lunch provided by Med-Trans Corp, the parent company of the Program. The ceremony was opened by the Aiken County EMS Honor Guard who presented the colors which was followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem sung by Flight Paramedic Justin Wolfe of Meducare Air. Local dignitaries spoke of the importance of the program and how proud they were of the company and the new Bell 407 Aircraft that was placed in Colleton. Speakers included Mayor Bill Young, Chamber of Commerce President Jeremy Ware, Colleton Medical Center CEO Jimmy Hiott, Chief McRoy and Med-Trans Regional Director Henry Ward. Ward presented Chief McRoy with a scale model of the new C.A.R.E. Flight Helicopter. Colleton Baptist Association Director Pastor Zane Brown blessed the Aircraft and food prior to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The public was able to tour the base quarters and see the new helicopter up close. The C.A.R.E. Flight staff was on site to answer questions and meet the crowd.
