23/November/2017 – Fatal MVC with Ejection – “A” Shift

Incident # 17-08049 – A 23 year old Ritter man lost his life in a single car MVC in the 7700 block of Green Pond Hwy Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning 23-November at 00:14. The accident occurred just north of Ritter Road. The southbound Mercedes was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control on a straight section of highway. The vehicle crossed over to the northbound ditch where it struck a power pole and began to flip over multiple times. The unrestrained driver was ejected from the vehicle. Firefighter-Paramedics found the car with heavy damage laying on its roof. The man was unconscious near the wood line and had no signs of life. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. The northbound lane was closed for two hours while the SC Highway Patrol conducted their investigation. Sheriff’s Deputies assisted with traffic control.

Engine 22, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
