06/January/2018 – Fatal MVC with Ejection – “A” Shift

Incident # 18-00206 – An Colleton County man was fatally injured in a single car MVC at the intersection of Cross Swamp Road and Rum Gully Road Saturday evening 06-January at 18:50. The Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Cross Swamp Road when it failed to negotiate a curve. The car struck an embankment and landed in the ditch. The unrestrained driver was ejected on to the roadway. A resident who lived across the street heard the crash and was on the scene almost immediately. He notified 9-1-1 reporting the man was not breathing. Fire-Rescue Medic 18 arrived minutes later and found the man with no signs of life. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries. The Coroner’s Office was notified and responded. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 18, Medic 18, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Brian Bishop served as Incident Commander.
