26/February/2018 – Fatal Auto Pedestrian Accident

Incident # 18-01407 – An adult male was struck by a SUV on Bells Hwy at Dandridge Road Monday evening 26-February at 20:28. Witnesses advised the man stepped into traffic from the sidewalk. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was in cardiac arrest when a Sheriff’s Deputy drove up on the accident shortly after it occurred. The Deputy began performing CPR on the man until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. The patient was then transported to Colleton Medical Center in Medic 26, but did not survive. The Walterboro Police Dept. is investigating the accident.  

Engine 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Walterboro Fire Department also responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
