23/March/2018 – Recruit School Graduation Station # 2 Firefighter Blake Drew graduated from the
Bluffton Recruit School Friday 23-March. The graduation was held at
Lowcountry Baptist Church in Bluffton and was sponsored by the Bluffton Fire
Dept. Twenty one recruits successfully completed the 11 weeks of training.
The course exceeds the NFPA Firefighter II curriculum and participants are
certified as Medical First Responders, Basic Firefighter, FLAG, HazMat Ops,
IFSAC Firefighter I and II and Auto Extrication. The church auditorium was
packed with family members and dignitaries. Blake’s father and Colleton
County Fire Commissioner, SG Drew pinned his badge during the ceremony.
Blake has grown up around the Fire Service following in the footsteps of his
father and brother. Blake has served as an Explorer with Colleton County
since he was 14 years old and as a firefighter since reaching the age of 18.
Blake will begin is full-time fire service career with the Bluffton Township
Fire-Rescue Department Monday 26-March. The Keynote Speaker was Hilton Head
Deputy Chief Chris Blankenship. |
