23/April/2018 – MVC with entrapment – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-02879 – An adult female suffered a head injury after the Suburban she was traveling in left the roadway near the 63 mile marker northbound Monday afternoon 23-April. At 15:52 during a heavy thunderstorm, Fire-Rescue was sent to the location for a single car MVC. The vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed, entered the median and struck several trees. Due to her injuries the woman could not exit the SUV. Firefighters used Holmatro hydraulic tools to remove the passenger side door and free the woman. She was transported to Colleton Medical Center. Her husband and three children were also transported to CMC for evaluation. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

 Engine 26, Engine 27, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Chris Dukes served as Incident Commander.
