28/April/2018 – Rice Festival – “A”, “B” and “C” Shifts      

Fire-Rescue and City of Walterboro Emergency crews covered several events at the annual Rice Festival festivities. The Walterboro Bike Criterium was held Wednesday 25-April. It took place downtown on the City streets running through the downtown business district on Washington Street and back to Hampton Street. Several Medic units and First Responders stood by on the straightaways and in the curves to provide medical care. Only one crash resulted in a person being transported to Colleton Medical Center. Crews also covered the main festival event downtown on Friday and Saturday. Five Fire-Rescue units participated in the Rice Festival Parade which snaked through town on Jefferies Blvd. Saturday morning. Engine 1, Engine 27, Medic 1, Rescue 1 and ARFF 19 were in the parade. Units also stood by during the great fireworks display conducted Saturday evening. It was one of the best Rice Festival events.
