04/June/2018 – Mutual Aid / HazMat Response – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-03898 – Colleton County Fire-Rescue’s HazMat Team responded as Mutual Aid to Dorchester County Fire-Rescue for a tanker leaking a dark liquid at the Flying J Truck Stop at 113 Motel Drive in St. George Monday morning 04-June at 11:25. Dorchester County units had responded to the Truck Stop’s parking lot and found the substance leaking from a tanker/trailer parked near the rear of the complex. The material had flowed through the parking area and into a drainage ditch. It pooled near the drainage basin as well. Colleton crews in Level “B” suits collected a sample of the substance. The liquid sample was run through a HazMat ID and was found not to be hazardous. Dorchester Fire-Rescue, Dorchester EMS and DHEC also responded.

HazMat 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 118  and Car 119 responded. Captain Brian Rowe served as HazMat Coordinator.
