11/July/2018 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift Incident # 18-04778 – A 40 yr. old male received a
single gun shot wound to the back during an altercation that occurred at a
business located at 2674 Jefferies Hwy north of Walterboro Wednesday
afternoon 11-July-2018. At 13:23, Fire-Rescue and Law Enforcement units were
sent to the establishment for the report of a man shot. Sheriff’s Deputies
cleared the scene and Firefighter-Paramedics found the man lying in the
parking lot in critical condition. They began treatment of his injuries and
placed the C.A.R.E. Flight medical helicopter on standby. He was quickly
stabilized, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to the
Lowcountry Regional Airport to meet the helicopter. Medic 19 transferred him
to the Flight Crew, who flew him to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical
Center in North Charleston. SLED was called to investigate the incident.
Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 112, Car
118 and C.A.R.E. Flight responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as
Incident Commander. |
