18/July/2018 – Structure Fire – “B” Shift Incident # 18-04945 – A doublewide mobile was destroyed
in an early morning fire at 938 Mars Oldfield Road Wednesday morning
18-July. Fire-Rescue HQ was notified of the incident by person from out of
town Wednesday morning. The man reported a neighbor called him advising the
residence had burn down earlier in the morning. Units arrived a short time
later to find the structure completely destroyed and almost burned out.
Crews extinguished several hot spots and requested the SLED Arson Team to
respond. The home had no power and several circumstances appeared
suspicious, including why neighbors did not notify 9-1-1 several hours
earlier when they saw the fire. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and
SLED are investigating the incident. Units were on the scene for about five
hours. Anyone with information concerning the fire are urged to call the
Sheriff’s Office at (843) 549-2211, the SLED Arson Hotline at (800) 922-7766
or Fire-Rescue Headquarters at (843) 539-1960. Engine 5, Engine 9, Tender 9, Tender 9, Tender 36,
Medic 9 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as
Incident Commander. |
