29/September/2018 – Shooting Incident – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-06785 – A 17 year old male was critically injured in an accidental shooting incident at a residence in the 3300 block of Hudson Mill Road. The patient told Firefighter-Paramedics he was cleaning a rifle when it fell and discharged. The round struck the teenager in the chest. Crews quickly treated him at the scene. No medical helicopters could fly because of poor weather conditions. Due to his critical state, he was rapidly transported to Colleton Medical Center to be stabilized. CMC’s ED  staff did a splendid job treating the teenager and he was rushed to surgery. Later in the afternoon, he was flown by helicopter to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 105 and Car 112 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
