13/November/2018 – Fatal Auto vs Pedestrian MVC – “C”
Shift Incident # 18-07917 – An adult male died from injuries
he received after being struck by a car in the 4200 block of Charleston Hwy
Tuesday evening 13-November. Witnesses advised the man was walking in the
middle of the highway near the Shiners Club during heavy rains. The man, who
was wearing dark clothing, was struck by a west bound Toyota RAV4. The
passenger car suffered moderate damage in the collision.
Firefighter-Paramedics arrived minutes later and found the man lying
unresponsive on the shoulder of the road. He received multiple traumatic
injuries and had no signs of life. The Coroner’s office was requested.
Charleston Highway was closed in the area of the accident for two hours
while the Coroner’s Office and SCHP conducted their investigations. No one
in the car received injuries. Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded.
