29/December/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-08990 – A family from the Neyles Community was displaced by a morning fire that destroyed the interior of their home Saturday morning 29-December. At 06:18, 9-1-1 was notified of the fire inside the residence located at 1959 Featherbed Road approximately 2 miles north of Charleston Hwy. (SC Hwy 64). The occupant advised she heard strange noises from another room and upon investigating she discovered the fire. The woman safely exited the structure with two children and called 9-1-1. Engine 19 arrived to find the home well involved, with flames coming from all sides of the single story residential structure. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines and made entry through the front door. They quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire which had also entered the attic and an addition on the north end of the building. Crews stopped the spread of the fire saving the structure, but the interior of the home, along with most possessions, were destroyed by the flames. Fire units were on the scene for two hours performing overhaul. The fire appears to have started from a space heater which ignited a bed. No one was injured in the incident and water supply was handled with Tenders. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 2, Tender 6,  Tender 19, Tender 32, Battalion 1, Car 110 and Car 112 responded. Captain Brian Rowe served as Incident Commander.
