31/December/2018 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 18-09075 – At 19:42 Monday evening 31-December, a resident in the 2200 block of Sidneys Road reported seeing large flames coming from a wooded area on the street behind their home. A second caller to 9-1-1 reported there was a house on fire in the 200 block of Ramsey Hill Drive. Engine 19 arrived minutes later to find a singlewide mobile home approximately 60% involved. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to the structure and had the bulk of the fire knocked down in about ten minutes. The entire center portion of the home was burned away, with the remainder of the mobile home suffering extensive damage. Firefighters protected a storage building located about 10 feet from the structure. No one was at home when the fire occurred, however two animals, a dog and cat perished in the fire. A rabbit on the front porch was uninjured. Fire crews were on the scene for over three hours performing overhaul. It appears the fire cause was electrical in nature. Firefighters assisted the family in locating some valuables and important paperwork from the building, but most personal items were destroyed. Firefighters buried the two deceased animals for the family.

Engine 19, Engine 27, Tender 1, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 9, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 27, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain Gary Nahrstedt served as Incident Commander.
