09/February/2019 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift 

Incident # 19-00907 – A Ruffin home was heavily damaged in a mid-afternoon fire at 827 Norris Drive Saturday 09-February. At 14:46, 9-1-1 was notified of a fire in the kitchen of the singlewide mobile home. The occupant advised they heard a pop and then noticed fire coming from an outlet in the kitchen. The fire quickly spread through the wall into the kitchen and living area. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later to find heavy smoke conditions with flames visible from both sides of the mobile home. Firefighters deployed one handline and entered the building through the front door. The fire had also spread to a vehicle parked next to the building. A second crew used another handline to extinguish the car fire. It took approximately 15 minutes to knock down the bulk of the flames. Firefighters were on the scene for two hours performing overhaul on the building. Three rooms were saved, but suffered substantial damage. The occupants lost most of their belongings and the vehicle was also heavily damaged. No injuries were reported in the incident. Water supply was conducted with Tenders. Investigators determined the fire started from an electrical outlet in the kitchen. The Red Cross is assisting the family.  

Engine 10, Engine 18, Engine 31, Tender 4, Tender 15, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 27, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain Tony Golovan served as Incident Commander.
