21/June/2019 – Camper Fire – “A” Shift Incident # 19-04297 – A camper used as a residence and
an attached structure were destroyed in an afternoon fire Friday 21-June. At
14:48, a person driving on Bama Road reported seeing a building on fire that
was well off of the road. Engine 9 arrived to find the structure well
involved and already collapsed. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two
handlines to extinguish the fire and protect exposures on the property.
Crews had the incident under control in approximately 15 minutes and
canceled other responding apparatus. They remained at the location
performing overhaul for one and half hours. During the investigation it was
discovered the building was a camper. Water supply was handled with Tenders.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Engine 9, Engine 19, Tender 9, Tender 19, Medic 9,
Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 104 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn
served as Incident Commander. |
