19/October/2019 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 19-07340 – A singlewide mobile was destroyed in an early morning fire at 469 Gaines Circle north of Cottageville Saturday morning 19-October. At 01:12, a neighbor called 9-1-1 advising they could see flames through the woods. Fire-Rescue units stationed in Cottageville arrived a short time later to find the singlewide mobile home fully involved. The residence had been burning undetected for some time and most of the structure had already collapsed. The home was located at the end of Gaines Circle down a narrow single lane driveway. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed two handlines to combat the fire. Crews had fire under control in about 20 minutes. A nearby camper also received minor damage. Water supply was handled with Tenders who staged on Gaines Circle and pumped truck to truck down the small driveway to supply Engine 9. No one was home when the fire occurred.  The origin of the fire is suspicious in nature. Sheriff’s Office and SLED investigators were called to scene to assist with the fire investigation. Anyone with information related to the cause of the fire are urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (843) 549-2211, the SLED Arson Hotline at (800) 922-7766 or Fire-Rescue Headquarters at (843) 539-1960.
