10/December/2019 – Historical Map Presentation – “B” Shift

Local historian and researcher Elizabeth Laney presented a History of Colleton County and Walterboro through the presentation of historic maps. Laney made the presentation for the Fire-Rescue Explorer Post where she reviewed the development of our community over the past 300 years using maps. Laney also presented the old Sanborn Fire Insurance maps and dissected the information over several decades to show the growth of Walterboro and the improvements in the local Fire Department. The maps contain a vast amount information and the presentation was informative, interesting and fun.
