04/March/2020 – Director of the Year Award

Deputy Chief David Greene was awarded the SC Emergency Management Director of the Year award by the SC Emergency Management Association on the final day of their annual conference at Myrtle Beach Wednesday evening 04-March. Chief Greene was recognized for his accomplishments in reorganizing the County’s Emergency Management Division which was placed under Fire-Rescue in January 2018. While many people have been involved in the reorganization, Chief Greene has been at the helm, orchestrating the many improvements to make the Division more functional and better prepared to serve this community, as well as our part in assisting the other agencies throughout the state. He began with a complete rewrite of the County Emergency Operations Plan and brought many agencies back to the table to run the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies or disasters. He revamped the entire EOC where participants can better communicate and participate while mitigating any event. He lead an almost total rebuild of the EOC with modern equipment, communications equipment and methods for sharing information between all those involved. State leaders and other County Emergency Managers selected Chief Greene for his efforts.
