15/March/2020 – Multi-vehicle MVC – “B” Shift

Incident # 20-1830 – A five vehicle high speed MVC on I-95 injured 11 people Sunday evening 15-March. The incident was reported at the 59 mile marker northbound at 21:31. Northbound traffic was slowing in the area when a northbound Mercedes struck one vehicle in the rear, entered the median, reentered the highway and struck a second vehicle in the rear causing heavy damage to all three cars. The third vehicle was pushed into a fourth vehicle on a trailer which damage it, the trailer and the truck pulling the trailer. Eleven people received non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics. None required hospitalization. Northbound traffic in the area of the accident was down to one lane for about one and half hours until the damaged vehicles and debris could be removed from the highway. Medic 1 requested two additional Fire-Rescue Ambulances. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 1, Engine 26, Medic 1, Medic 13, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
