22/April/2020 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift Incident # 20-02702 – Two teenagers were shot, one
fatally, in a shooting incident that began near the intersection of Francis
St and Savage St. The incident was reported at 14:33 Wednesday 22-April.
Callers to 9-1-1 reported the vehicle was shot and drove several blocks
before stopping in the yard at 203 Francis Street. The 18 year old female
driver received a fatal gunshot wound. The second victim was a 15 year old
male who ran from the scene and went to Colleton Medical Center’s ED by
private car. Other teenagers in the car were not injured. Law Enforcement
Officers from the City of Walterboro and Sheriff’s Office arrived quickly
followed shortly by Firefighter-Paramedics from Fire-Rescue. The driver was
not responsive and had no signs of life. Officers spent several hours
processing the crime scene. A suspect was apprehended less than 30 minutes
after the shooting occurred. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the
incident. Medic 19, Medic 27, Battalion 1, Car 105, Car 107, Car
112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident
