26/May/2020 – Shooting Incidents – “A” Shift

Incident #s 20-03433 and 20-03436 – Two adult males received gunshot wounds at two different locations three hours apart Tuesday morning 26-May. The first incident occurred in the 500 block of Rivers St just outside the City Limit of Walterboro. An adult male was riding a bicycle on Rivers Street when a car pulled alongside and began firing a weapon at him. The man was struck several times, but managed to escape into a wooded area. Law Enforcement located the man who had serious injuries to both arms and an upper leg. Firefighter-Paramedics treated him at the scene, then transported him emergent to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. He was transferred to the Flight Crew and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The second incident occurred on Hendersonville Highway at 03:41. A man delivering newspapers was approached by a vehicle matching the description from Rivers Street. Shots were fired from the vehicle and struck the delivery man’s vehicle. One bullet pierced the door and struck the man in the side. He was able to drive quickly to the Sheriff’s Office on Mable T. Willis Blvd. to escape. Firefighter-Paramedics treated him at the scene and transported him to the ED at Colleton Medical Center. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating both incidents.

20-03433 – Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 112 and CARE Flight responded.  Battalion Chief Scott O’Quinn served as Incident Commander.
