06/September/2020 – Shooting Incident with Air Evacuation – “C” Shift

Incident # 20-06115 – Two people received gunshot wounds in a shooting incident at Wiggins Mobile Home Park located at 117 Taylor Street just east of Walterboro Sunday afternoon 06-September at 15:27. An adult female was transported to Colleton Medical Center in a private car with reported multiple gunshot wounds. An adult male was found lying in the roadway with critical injuries to his arm and chest. He was quickly treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics, then transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 1 to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center to meet with the CARE Flight helicopter. Crews controlled his bleeding with bandaging and a tourniquet and administered IV fluids and lifesaving Whole Blood while enroute to the helicopter. Advanced airway treatment was needed to improve his breathing. He was transferred to the Flight Crew without incident and flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
