Incident # 21-00317 - A 36 yr.old Ruffin woman was shot in the head during an altercation at a residence in the 200 block of Clatty Farm Road in Ruffin, Tuesday morning 12-January. 9-1-1 was notified of the incident at 08:22. The Sheriff's Office and Fire-Rescue units responded and found the woman semi-conscious in the yard. The home was located a good distance from the road. A small child was also in the residence, but was not injured. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated the woman. A medical helicopter was requested but could not fly due to poor weather conditions, including fog. The critically injured patient was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 26 with additional Firefighter-Paramedics on board to assist with her care. She was transported to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation.
Engine 26, Medic 7, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 107, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
