07/April/2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-02414 - A smoke alarm and quick action by Firefighters saved a Green Pond residence Wednesday evening 07-April. At 23:20 the smoke alarm in the home in the 100 block of Ivenia Brown Road woke the family. They found smoke in the residence and upon attempting to exit they found the back of the home on fire with flames around the rear door. They were able to safely exit through the front door and notify 9-1-1. Firefighter-Paramedics stationed in Green Pond arrived minutes later to find the back of the single wide mobile home with flames traveling up the back of the building. They deployed one hand line to the building and had the bulk of the fire knocked down in less than 10 minutes. The fire did extend into the residence causing some structural and electrical damage. The fire started on the wooden back porch, destroying the steps and burning a short distance in the yard reaching a nearby storage building. The storage building only received minor damage. An approximately 10 foot section on the back of the home was burned. The rear door, appliances in the back and some furniture in the master bedroom were also damaged. The remainder of the home suffered smoke damage. Crews were on the scene for about 1-1/2 hours. No injuries were reported. 

Engine 2, Engine 6, Tender 1, Tender 6, Tender 13, Tender 27, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1, Car 112, Car 118 and Car 119 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
