Incident # 21-03168 - Fire-Rescue units were sent to the 11000 block of Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) north of Cottageville at 12:03 Wednesday 5-May. Witnesses advised a southbound Prius crossed into the northbound lane striking a northbound Ford pickup truck head-on. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage and blocked Cottageville Hwy for over an hour. Firefighter-Paramedics treated both patients at the scene and requested a second Fire-Rescue Ambulance. The female driver of the Prius suffered multiple injuries and was transported emergent to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The male driver of the pickup truck was transported with non-life threatening injuries by Fire-Rescue to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC. Cottageville PD assisted with traffic control.
Engine 9, Rescue 1, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Lt. KC Campbell served as Incident Commander.
