Incident # 21-03261 - A two vehicle, high speed MVC sent three people to the hospital Sunday afternoon 09-May. At 17:22, 9-1-1 was notified of the accident at the intersection of Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy 17-A) and McDanieltown Rd east of Cottageville. A Toyota Tacoma was struck in the driver's door by a full sized Chevrolet Pickup Truck causing extensive damage to the Toyota with over three feet of intrusion into the small truck. The Chevrolet went down an embankment following the collision and over-turned coming to rest back up on the wheels near the wood line. The driver of the Toyota was unconscious and suffered multiple injuries. Two Fire-Rescue Ambulances were assigned to the incident. The driver of the Toyota was transported emergent in Fire-Rescue Medic 9 to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston with additional personnel on board to assist with his care. The two occupants of the Chevrolet who were both wearing seatbelts, were transported to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the MVC.
Engine 9, Engine 19, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
