10-May-2021 - Structure Fire - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-03276 - Firefighters saved a residential structure Monday morning 10-May in the 12000 block of Lowcountry Hwy. (US Hwy 21), south of Sniders Crossroads. At 08:17, 9-1-1 received a report of smoke coming from the roof of a home at this location. Engine 13 arrived minutes later to find smoke coming from a single story wood frame dwelling. Firefighter-Paramedics advanced one handline to the building and found the attic above the kitchen was on fire. Crews pulled the ceiling in the kitchen and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire appears to have started in the area where the stove vent pipe exited through the roof. The flames had spread through the attic space above the kitchen, damaging the insulation, wiring and rafters. The fire was contained to the kitchen and the remainder of the home received light smoke damage. The occupants were able to safely exit the home and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 13, Engine 18, Tender 1, Tender 4, Tender 8, Tender 13, Medic 13, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
