Incident # 21-04203 - A 20 yr old Summerville man received injuries in a single vehicle accident in the 8000 block of Charleston Hwy (SC Hwy 64) just west of the Neyles Community Thursday 17-June at 12:27. The westbound passenger car dropped off of the right shoulder, over-corrected and crossed to the eastbound shoulder where it struck a tree and caught fire. The male driver who was wearing a seatbelt, was able to escape from the car. Bystanders assisted the man until Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. Engine 30 deployed one handline to extinguish the fire. The man advised he fell asleep prior to the crash. He was transported with non-life threatening injuries to Colleton Medical Center. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 30, Medic 14, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Firefighter-EMT Shane Weber served as Incident Commander.
