Incident # 21-04482 - One person was injured in a two car MVC at the intersection of Jefferies Hwy (U.S. Hwy 15) and Augusta Hwy (S.C. Hwy 61) Monday morning, 28 June at 07:19. The collision occurred at Canadys Crossroads. Off-duty Firefighter/EMT Robbie McAlhaney arrived less than a minute after the incident was dispatched and reported two vehicles involved, one with moderate front end damage and another on its side with confirmed entrapment. One patient refused transport and the trapped patient was stabilized by Firefighter/Paramedics and extricated through the roof of the vehicle on its side. The patient was transported by Fire-Rescue Medic 19 to Colleton Medical Center. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Traffic was blocked on Jefferies Hwy for approximately 30 minutes.
Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Medic 19, Medic 26, Engine 5, Engine 19, and Car 105 responded. Firefighter/EMT Robbie McAlhaney served as the Incident Commander.
