15/August/2021 - MVC w/ejection & Air Evac - "C" Shift

Incident # 21-05854 - Two men were injured in a high speed, single vehicle MVC on Interstate 95 near the 57 mile marker NB Sunday morning 15-August at 02:56. The northbound 2006 Pontiac G6 left the roadway and entered the median. The driver over-corrected and crossed back over both NB lanes, entering the ditch. The car slid sideways and struck the embankment while traveling backwards. The car received heavy damage. Neither occupant was restrained and one was ejected into the woods. One of the victims crawled to the breakdown lane and a passing motorist saw him waving for help. Fire-Rescue units arrived about five minutes later. While on scene, they located the second victim in the woods. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries. A second Fire-Rescue ambulance was requested. Both men were treated at the scene. The first patient was transported to Colleton Medical Center. The ejected patient was transported to the helipad at CMC to meet with CARE Flight. He was flown to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

Engine 1, Engine 26, Medic 1, Medic 26, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Battalion Chief Chris Jones served as Incident Commander.
