Incident # 21-09305 - A 72 yr. old Walterboro woman was critically injured when her Toyota Corolla collided with a log truck in the 1100 block of Sniders Hwy. at 06:25 Wednesday morning 29-December. The Corolla received heavy front end damage after it struck the back of the empty log trailer. Firefighter-Paramedics were able to quickly remove her from the wreckage, then transported her to Colleton Medical Center to be stabilized. The ED staff treated her injuries and later had CARE Flight fly her to the Trauma Center at Memorial Health in Savannah Georgia. Sadly, she passed away after arriving at the Trauma Center. The truck driver was not injured. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the accident.
Medic 26, Rescue 1, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Walterboro Fire Dept responded. Battalion Chief Scott O'Quinn served as Incident Commander.
