15/February/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift
Incident # 22-01230 - One building was destroyed and two
others were damaged in an afternoon fire in the 900 block of
Drew Hill Ct, Tuesday 15-February at 13:30. The homeowner
had dumped ashes from the fireplace on a pile in the yard.
The smoldering ashes ignited dry grass and spread across the
yard damaging her doublewide mobile home. The fire reached a
singlewide mobile home located close to the doublewide and
set it on fire. The homeowner heard the noise, then
discovered the well involved singlewide. She notified 9-1-1.
Engine 36 and Tender 36 arrived quickly, finding the
singlewide fully involved and fire around one end of the
doublewide. Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines, first
protecting the doublewide and then working to extinguish the
singlewide. Crews deployed additional hand lines to a second
singlewide mobile home which had started burning from
radiant heat. The second singlewide had a metal exterior and
the heat ignited the wooden studs inside the walls. Crews
removed some of the siding to reach the fire and were able
to save the second singlewide. The doublewide mobile home
suffered damage to the vinyl siding and minor structural
damage. The singlewide in between the other two was
completely destroyed. No one was injured in the fire. Fire
units were on the scene for three hours.
Engine 36, Engine 9, Tender 9, Tender 19, Tender 32, Tender
36, Brush 36, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 118
responded. The Forestry Commission also responded. Battalion
