Incident # 22-01377 - Four people were transported to a Trauma Center following a high speed single vehicle MVC on I-95 near the 69 mile marker southbound in Dorchester County Sunday afternoon 20-February. The accident was reported at 17:37 with multiple callers advising it was in Dorchester and Colleton Counties. Colleton Fire-Rescue units located the accident in Dorchester County just north of the Edisto River. Engine 5 and Medic 26 advised one vehicle suffered heavy damage and one patient was lying in the roadway. Firefighter-Paramedics began treating the four injured people until Dorchester County units arrived to assist. The small sedan had been traveling southbound when the driver reportedly fell asleep. The car drifted to the right shoulder and impacted the guardrail ripping the driver's side doors and "B" post off of the car. Fire-Rescue Medic 26 transported two patients to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical and Dorchester County EMS transported the remaining two patients to Trident. I-95 Southbound was blocked for over an hour. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Engine 5 and Medic 26 responded. Dorchester County Fire units and Dorchester County EMS also responded.
