Incident # 22-01384 - Five people received minor injuries when their car struck a donkey on a dark rural stretch of Hendersonville Hwy (US Hwy. 17-A) near Nursery Ln south of Walterboro Sunday evening Feb. 20 at 19:22. The small car struck the donkey that was walking in the roadway. Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and found the donkey deceased on the shoulder of the road. The car suffered heavy frontend damage. None of the patients, which included two adults and three children, required transportation to the hospital. Animal Services responded to the scene and the SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 112 responded. Captain Brian Eadon served as Incident Commander.
